a day in the life of joannathan

HI EVERYONE WELCOME TO OUR BLOG. OUR NAMES ARE JONATHAN AND JOANNE, BEST KNOWN AS JOANNATHAN. WE'RE PHOTOGRAPHERS BASED OUT IN SAN JOSE, CA.

WE LOVE CAPTURING LIFE AS IT HAPPENS, WHETHER ITS YOUR FAMILY SESSION OR YOUR WEDDING, WE'D LOVE TO BE PART OF IT.

Julie and Matt’s Wedding was also featured on Brooklyn Bride as well as three of the photos I took from photographing that wedding with Joel Flory.  Thank you so much Joel for having me a part of that wedding it was such a blast!!   I met some really amazing folks that day including Curtis and Travis of Curtis Nemetz Productions, two awesome wedding videographers.  They were such a blast to work with and I highly recommend them to any couple looking for a videographer.  I’ve linked up the highlights video that they made for Julie and Matt.  Enjoy !!  To view the rest of the article click here.

Matt and Julie’s Wedding Highlights Video from curtis nemetz on Vimeo.

I’ve been finding it harder and harder to post up new blog posts because of the crazy wedding season and man can I just share with you all, its been B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!  It’s been a WHOLE lot of fun and definitely an awesome roller coaster ride.

This past July I had the awesome opportunity to photograph Rosalie and Ken’s day.  They are such an awesome couple.  To view their engagement session click here.

The gorgeous couple got married at First United Methodist Church of Palo Alto, a beautiful church with the most amazing stained glass windows.  Then had their reception at Ming’s Restaurant in Palo Alto.  The couple also got ready at the W Hotels Newark, which is also quite stunning.

Rosalie’s Dress was from Bay Area Bridal, the bridesmaids dresses were by Vera Wang and purchased on www.hautelook.com.  The flowers were absolutely gorgeous especially the bridesmaids bouquet and were done by Trang Vo of Vo Floral Designs. The delicious cake was made by Ana at Cakes by Ana.

We just finished watching Akeelah and the Bee.  It’s such an awesome movie for those who are interested in watching it.   I thought that I should share a truly amazing phrase that was featured in the movie.  Food for thought for all those who are striving to do something amazing….

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson

This past February I had the honor of second shooting for Joel Flory at Julie and Matt’s Wedding at Yoshi’s Jazz Club in San Francisco.   I blogged their wedding on our old blog which you can find here.   In June a huge surprise hit us when we found out that an image I had taken at that wedding made it into San Francsico Brides;  the picture of the couple during their first dance from above.  You can check out their site and sign up to get a free copy of the issue.  We were so excited the other night when we went to Border’s to purchase some books and strolled into the magazine section to find this issue.  Check out Joel Flory’s original blog post here.  Here’s the slideshow of the images I shot at Julie and Matt’s wedding.
